Prevention & follow-up skin cancer program

Skin cancer is one of the most frequent tumor diseases in humans. Diagnosed early, skin cancer is almost always curable. Since the skin is a surface organ, the skin can be examined precisely and completely. Intervals between examinations are defined individually for each patient depending on their risk profile, which is determined at the first examination. Today, digital photodocumentation using the dermatoscope enables precise recording of minimal skin changes. Thus, unnecessary operations can be avoided and necessary operations performed with great precision. Patients with a history of skin cancer are examined in an outpatient follow-up program. The frequency of these examinations and the diagnostic procedures are adapted to the risk of recurrence of an earlier tumor or the probability of new disease. Each patient receives state-of-the-art treatment in this program. If needed, additional examinations are scheduled for clarification. These include ultrasound, X-ray, computer tomography, magnetic resonance imaging and determination of tumor markers.
